Asthma in Childhood
Last Updated: February 2010
Asthma is an inflammatory condition of the airways which causes them to narrow in response to a wide range of trigger factors. The narrowing is caused by muscle constriction, inflammation of the lining of the airways and excess mucus production. Common symptoms are coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and difficulty in breathing.
These Speaking from Experience video clips offer first-hand accounts from children living with asthma and their parents. They discuss the ways that it affects their lives and the ways they manage the condition. It was produced in partnership with Asthma Foundation Victoria.
