Tina Campbell presents for Chronic Illness Alliance

At the most recent Chronic Illness Alliance Chronic Disease Self-Management Special Interest Group meeting, Tina Campbell, founder and director of RealTime Health, presented a paper and co-facilitated a workshop on The Role of Narrative in Chronic Disease Self-Management Programs. Fellow co-presenter was Virginia Haggar of Diabetes Australia VIC .
The Chronic Disease Self-Management Special Interest Group is a group of health professionals and consumers who meet to discuss the latest research and issues in implementing self-management programs and strategies in chronic disease management. The Special Interest Group is facilitated by the Chronic Illness Alliance and is funded by Department of Human Services, Victoria.
Tina is a pioneer in the area of ‘patient narrative’ resource development in Australia and is currently a PhD candidate at the Centre for Health Policy, Programs and Economics at the School of Population Health, The University of Melbourne. Her thesis will evaluate the effectiveness of a ‘patient narrative’ intervention program to improve self-efficacy in patients with newly diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes.
Tina's presentation provided an opportunity to explore new methods of working with people with chronic illnesses in a patient-centred manner, as well as highlighting new research being undertaken.
